Twig Oaklyn Flewinia Thistlebottom was first sighted at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival in 2003.
In an exclusive interview using today’s leading fae linguists, we are able to give you a rare glimpse at the journey she has made from that first apparition.
When children see Twig, they are often struck with a sense of awe, wonder, and perhaps a bit of shyness.
We were surprised to find that this is exactly how Twig feels when meeting us.
The human imagination is a marvel to her. To see what dreams they bring to life, is her most rewarding pursuit.
Sometimes those imaginings burst out completely unprovoked, but often it takes a seed, a tiny question planted in the mind.
The question has no right or wrong answer, but it's Twig’s hope that the answers will lead to more questions that eventually grow into a story.
After two seasons at the Minnesota Festival, she struck out across the country hoping to spark as many imaginations as possible.
Starting with Renaissance Festivals in Arizona and North Carolina, she then added on Scarborough Faire in TX, and a weekend trip to South Dakota.
Colorado took a couple of years to find. Apparently, mountains upset fairy’s already fickle navigational sense.
I asked her if she ever tires of wandering the streets of Renaissance Festivals. A wry smile drew the corners of her mouth up, and I swear she had an extra glitter to her eyes.
She didn’t say anything, she simply reached into one of her pouches and handed me a glittery stone.
I asked her what it was, and her smile became more mischievous. “Will it bring me good luck?” I asked, and still no response.
“Can I wish on it?” I said, while simultaneously dreaming up the possibilities of a wish. Still smiling, she bowed low as if to say goodbye. “Could we have a parting comment at least?”
To this she played a playful tune, and scampered off. The fairy linguists assured me that they were accurate in translating,
“Tweetly-tweet, tweet tweeeeeeeeeet, trill, tweetle.”
